Your first off-road tour briefing: what to ask

Use the briefing to make sure you understand the machine and the guide’s instructions before riding.

Explain what is unfamiliar

Every active ATV and dirt bike day tour lists a full safety briefing. Tell the team if this is your first time, if you have ridden only road bikes or if you are unsure about a control. Ask how to start, stop and communicate a concern in the way the guide expects. Do not let a group’s enthusiasm rush you past a question.

Check the equipment and the plan

Ask for help if gear feels loose, uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Confirm how the group should space out, where to stop and how to respond if you lose confidence. A guide page cannot replace instructions for the actual vehicle and conditions. Listen to the team rather than improvising from generic online riding advice.

Keep expectations honest

A briefing is included in a tour, but it is not the same product as a two-hour-minimum motorcycle training session. If you need to learn geared-bike controls, ask about Basics Training before booking a dirt bike tour. Families and passengers should confirm suitability in advance. No short briefing makes every machine or route appropriate for every participant.
